One of our favorite ways to mix up our look is by creating evening hairstyles that are modern, sophisticated and classy. Read on to discover some of our favorite evening hairstyles to help you figure out what look you are going to wear on your night out.
Stunning Evening Hairstyles We Can’t Get Enough Of
1. Updo
If you are heading to the opera or the theater, we love the look of a chic updo for an evening out. Try the classic half-up/half-down look that can be secured with a clip, or even twisted on the sides of your hair into a casual ’do. We love a sophisticated look that’s very low-maintenance.
2. Halo Braid
This old-school hairstyle is making a resurgence from the ’80s and is all about being tight and controlled. Great for evenings when you don’t want to think about your hair, this style can be heavy on the volume in the front of your face, so soften it up and make it more romantic by carefully letting some wisps out to lightly frame your features.
3. Braided Twist
Try a two-in-one hair trend by creating a braid around the crown of your hair. Twist the other side of your hair to meet the braided end, forming a sophisticated updo that will definitely set you apart on your evening out.
4. Low Twisted Bun
Another easy style hack is to create a bun with an updated twist. Inside of the standard up-high ballerina bun, go low and let your bun rest on your neck. Add in three low twists for a look that’s bound to turn heads. Check out our full low twisted bun tutorial to master this look for yourself.
5. Bouffant
Go retro for your night out and create a mini-bouffant held together with some carefully placed hair clips. While this look may take time to create, you won’t have to fix it throughout the night. The secret to lock in this style? Use some hairspray, like Bed Head by TIGI Hard Head Hairspray, to help give you some serious hold and control.
6. Chignon
We love this look but it does take more time than you probably have in for a regular morning. Reserve this ’do for your evening out so you have a bit more time to spend on creating the perfect bun or tight ponytail.
7. Milkmaid Braids
We know you’ve been eyeing this look for a long time, so why not rock it on your fancy night out? This braided style can be situated on one side of your head or even in a crown that leads into a bun or low French twist. Check out our tutorial on how to make milkmaid braids yourself.
8. Dramatic Part
Even those with short hair can look totally different at night with a simple change of their part. Take a significant amount of your locks (from the opposite side of where you normally part your hair) and place it on the opposite side. This change will look dramatic as you create layers and volume to your hair. If you have curls, use TRESemmé TRES Two Extra Hold Mousse to help give your hair body without the stiffness or stickiness.
9. High Pony
Use a dime-sized amount of Nexxus Humectress Encapsulate Serum to smooth out any frizz or flyways that tends to accumulate around the crown. Then, pull your hair all the way up the crown as you create a high ponytail.
10. Braided Bun
Another head-turning look to try for your night out is to create braids that wrap around your hair, forming into a low bun. You can also try braids that circle your bun or braids to create a wraparound crown around your head.
11. Bubble Pony
Another look that will stun at the theater is the trendy bubble pony. It starts out as your typical high pony that’s subsequently wrapped into smaller and tighter ponytails that form mini-bubbles. You just need some clear elastic bands to hold it all together.
12. Third-Day Volume
Refresh third-day hair with a few sprays of Dove Refresh+Care Volume and Fullness Dry Shampoo. This dry shampoo will give your strands new life and a sultry voluminous look.
13. Flat Iron Curls
Use your flat iron to create these easy textured curls. Follow our quick tutorial for flat iron curls to create this edgy look.
14. Low, Chic Updo
Gather your curls back into a low and easy updo and accessorize your finished look with a few small flowers.
15. High Flirty Ponytail
Nothing says evening-ready like a high flirty ponytail. Use a teasing comb to add a touch of volume in the front for extra fanciness.
16. Deep Side Part
Give your hair a quick change of perspective by switching to a deep side part.
17. Brushed-Through Curls
Change up your usual curled look by brushing through your curls once they’ve cooled.
18. Braided Updo
Upgrade a classic updo by adding thin braids around the crown of your hair.
19. Loose Updo
Brush your curls back into a voluminous updo and leave a few pieces out to frame your face.
20. The 2-Minute Updo
Separate your hair into a center part for a little bit of drama and gather your hair back into an easy updo.
